Exploring the Emotional and Physical Journey of Postnatal Recovery
Recently, Dr. Sarah Jenkins was featured in Series 2 of The Price of Perfection, a documentary series hosted by Olivia Attwood. In an episode titled Mummy Makeover, the programme explored the physical and emotional changes many women face after childbirth - along with the growing range of aesthetic and wellness treatments designed to support their recovery and confidence. Among those featured was EmpowerRF: an advanced, non-surgical treatment platform offered here at The Door W4 that combines internal and external technologies to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, restore intimate tissue health, and improve overall function and wellbeing.
After childbirth, many women silently face intimate health issues such as bladder leakage, weakened pelvic floor muscles, vaginal laxity, reduced sensation, and a loss of confidence in how their body looks and feels. EmpowerRF by InMode is designed specifically to treat these issues - safely, effectively, and without long recovery times.
In the ITV episode, we meet Amanda - a mother of two - who came to Dr. Jenkins seeking both functional and aesthetic improvement following childbirth.
"My first child tore me, unfortunately,” Amanda shared. “It was quite painful for a while having sex. After the second one, I definitely realised it just wasn’t the same anymore.”
Amanda had been experiencing discomfort, reduced sensitivity, and a loss of confidence in her intimate area. She was open about how it affected her relationship and her self-image.
“I feel like everything's quite thin, if that makes sense,” she explained. “Like it's not plump anymore, and it just doesn't sit right when I look at it.”
Amanda’s treatment began with VTone, a device that uses intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to strengthen weak pelvic floor muscles. Numbing cream was applied, and the device was gently inserted internally. VTone delivers the equivalent of 20,000 Kegel exercises in a single 30-minute session - helping to restore strength, improve bladder control, and enhance sexual function. It’s a powerful tool for women experiencing stress or urge incontinence and those struggling with core weakness after childbirth.
Next, Amanda received Morpheus8V, a minimally invasive treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy through microneedling. With local anaesthetic cream applied beforehand, the device was used both internally and externally to stimulate collagen production and promote tissue regeneration. This process creates controlled trauma to the skin and mucosa, which encourages natural healing and leads to thicker, firmer, and more responsive tissue over time.
Finally, Amanda had labial filler to address the loss of volume in the outer vulva, restoring a more youthful appearance and improving symmetry.
Amanda was informed she might experience some mild bruising and swelling after her sessions and that full results can be expected in 4–6 months.
